Christian Youth in Action

Christian Youth in Action is an exciting outreach to high-school youth in the greater Lansing area. We don't just talk about Christian discipleship, we live it out! Weekly prayer meetings, small groups, conferences, retreats, summer mission trips (to exotic places no less), parties, and social events are what we do. But, RELATIONSHIPS are what we are about: our relationship with Jesus Christ and our relationships with our brothers and sisters.

You can also get a feeling for what we are all about by reading our ideal (below).

Our Ideal for Christian Living

We will help one another grow in the Lord.

Mark 12:30 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.

We want to do exactly what Mark 12:30 commands us to do. We want God to become the center of our entire lives. We want to reveal Christ in all our words and actions. We want to come into prayer and devotion every day with our Lord Jesus Christ so that we can be built up as individuals and, in return, build up the whole body. We want to be open to the Holy Spirit leading us in expressive and charismatic worship.

Ephesians 6:1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.

We want to be different from the world. The Lord has commanded us to honor our parents and those in authority over us (teachers, pastors, youth group leaders...). We will show our love for them by serving and obeying them. We will support one another by helping our brothers and sisters follow their parents’ instruction, for we do not want to cause anyone to fall.

We will build right relationships with our brothers and sisters.

Romans 12:10 Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.

We want to love each other in a holy and righteous way and see one another as brothers and sisters in Christ. Therefore, we agree not to date, pair off, or get into romantic relationships based on personal attractions. Instead, we will focus on developing strong, Christ-centered relationships with one another as friends. We do this because we know that God can use us more fully if we are not distracted. Even when it is difficult to do so, we will stand by one another and help our brothers and sisters draw closer to Jesus Christ.

We will serve God’s people and allow His light to shine to others.

Matthew 20:28 The Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve.

We want to follow Christ’s example and serve inside and outside our community. We will serve willingly and joyfully, whenever the opportunity arises. We will be supportive in our relationships, participate faithfully, and be a good example to others.

Jeremiah 1:7 Do not say ‘I am only a child.’ You must go to everyone I send you and say whatever I command you.

This is the Lord’s call to us and we want to follow it. We want Jesus to be revealed in the way we live so that others might see His light and come to know Him. We will be open with the Gospel and share it with others, for we want to turn this world upside down for Jesus!

As young adult members of the Work of Christ Youth Group, Christian Youth in Action, we will support our brothers and sisters in living out this ideal.

For this year, with the support of the youth group and my parents, and with God’s help, I will honor this ideal.
